For those that are not aware, on January 12th, 2006, the host and his cohorts on a local "morning show" were doing a "rants" segment and started in on motorcyclists and how "they (motorcyclists) should have to wait (in traffic) like everyone else." DJ Jeff Fife (aka: Woody) made a point to advocate and encourage people in cars to commit assault with a deadly weapon against law-abiding motorists, suggesting people open their vehicle doors into motorcyclist "splitting" lanes (an act which is legal in CA when done in a safe manner) out of spite, because he and his crew felt they should have to wait in traffic like a car. He said he would like to see people open their door and "take them out" as they try to pass by. Woody's statement was as follows: "One of my pet-peeves is people on motorcycles who think they don't have to wait in traffic like everybody else... Nothing would make me happier than to watch somebody, and I've actually seen this happen, somebody open a door and 'take you out' as you are trying to squeeze through..." His co-host "Tony" then says he would do it, except that it would damage his car door. Nice one fucktard! You can hear all of this B.S. for yourself using one of the links below. It is worth mentioning that intentionally opening a door into or in front of a moving motorcycle is an act likely to result in death or serious bodily injury... this is not an accident but an intentional act of violence and is legally seen as assault with a deadly weapon. Suggesting or encouraging such an act, even out of pure ignorance, is both irresponsible and serves a great disservice to their listeners and millions of law-abiding motorcyclists. Try this link [CLICK HERE], courtesy of 3DMasterpiece.com The next day "Woody" did a half-assed job of backpedaling, advising he had just moved to San Francisco and was not "aware" California law allowed lanesharing. This begs the question, what does it matter where he moved from? Apparently he is saying where he came from, it was okay to murder people if you thought they may be committing a minor traffic infraction. His statements were completely unreasonable, regardless of where he lived before and making an excuse from the fact he is new to California is absolutely ridiculous. Oh, he also promised to attend MSF training... don't hold your breath! As a result of protests and pickets of the Bay Area's only Anti-Motorcyclist Morning Show, by members of the Bay Area Riders Forum (BARF), Jeff "Woody" Fife made an apology in the on-line BARF forums and personally promised to ensure motorcycle safety PSAs (intended to educate motorists that lanesplitting is LEGAL when done safely) would be broadcast on Live 105.
