Subculture Racing
www.WadeBoyd.com
This year Subculture Racing turns 10, and over the past decade, their
tales of deeds and adventures have been told
over many a pint and shop of spirits... Past
Subculture sidecar racers have included Rory O'Conner (three time TT veteran), Todd Sokol (also a TT vet) Christine Blunck (the first US female to be awarded a TT
finishers' medal). Others include Wendy Epstein from Mission Honda-Yamaha and Jerry Walker, from Oregon, both ran the trecherous TT
course, as well as Jennifer Brohm, who owns Die Werkstatt and was once a sidecar
pilot for Subculture.
| "We live, eat, breathe, sleep,
racing and the art of riding properly." |
Currently Subculture's efforts are going
into racing sidecars as well as getting a
team to race Superbikes at the Isle of Mann TT and MotoGP, both very tough tasks. Oh yeah, how about
getting a good full grid together all year
for the Illegal Soapbox Race circuit... any volunteers?

Crash Update |
"Ray Roy Critically Hurt" Bakersfield - Veteran Bay Area fast man Ray
Roy, 56, was critically injured in a motorcycle
accident on Thursday, January 20th. Ray was riding his dirt bike back to the
truck when a woman driving a car ran into
him head on. Ray was airlifted from the accident
scene to a hospital in Bakersfield. Suffering
from at least eight serious bone fractures
and internal injuries, including a lacerated
spleen, he was placed in a medically induced
coma to help him manage the injuries. The
good news is that doctors are going to be
able to save his spleen. He is going to have
a long road back to recovery. Ray has been
an extremely talented and rapid rider of
street and dirt bikes for decades. He is
famous for having taken over the helm of
San Francisco's Lighting Express Messengers after its founder, the legendary, Chris Crew, died Dec 19, 1991. |

"SF's Mike Krynock finishes Dakar"
San Francisco's own Mike Krynock (pictured above) finished in 84th place
overall (4th place US finisher) in his very
first outing of the Dakar Rally. Apparently
Mike broke his hand early in the rally but
heroically persevered to finish the grueling
race. The Team Rally Pan America KTM rider was supported by team members; Niles Follin and Robb McElroy. Charlie Rauseo, who also rode in, but crashed out of the
event, managed the team. It is important
to note that Krynock's and Rauseo's teammate,
Jonah Street, finished in 18th place on his first time
out. Street's unbelievable performance gives
the team their best finish to date. Rumor
has it that KTM asked Jonah to slow down
his pace in exchange for a factory ride in
next year's event. But, it is unlikely that
Street will settle for being a mere "water
carrier" on a factory team when he can
stay with Charlie's team and go for the big
win! Details can be found at: RallyPanAm.com, www.dakar.com and [2006 Dakar final bike standings] |
